Pastor: Reverend Donald DeGroat

BIO:

Rev. Donald DeGroat came to Thornhurst UMC at Christmas, 2018 to fill a vacant pastorate. He was subsequently appointed to serve Thornhurst UMC. he has since become member and chaplain to the Thornhurst Volunteer Fire & Rescue Co.

Rev. DeGroat retired from full-time ministry July 2012. He served five United Methodist churches in New Jersey since his ordination as deacon in 1973 and Elder in 1975. 

He practices ministry as one who encourages others on their journey in the Christian faith and practice. His hobbies and past-times include birding, astronomy, science and wellness, jogging and running in 5K races. A recent 5K race in Bethlehem raised $250.00 for Mission Central, an outreach ministry of the Susquehanna Annual Conference.
